- know why they are a team (ie: have a clear sense of purpose)
- members all understand and share a common sense of purpose
- have realistic and achievable goals

- listen to and seek all team
members ideas and opinions
- clearly define roles and responsiblities for all team members
- agree on how they will function (eg:how often they will meet,
who will chair meetings etc.)
- agree on how they will make decisions
- use conflict to understand everyone's opinion and determine
the best outcome
- use time and resources wisely
- continually review their effectiveness both
- in accomplishing their tasks and
- in their personal interactions

When you are part of an effective team, you feel:
- valued and respected
- willing to contribute new ideas and take risks
- motivated to work hard to help the team meet its goals
